Practice: think vs tink, three vs tree, this vs dis. Over-exaggerate at first—it helps your tongue learn the motion. 2. V vs B sounds ● Examples: over → ober ● What’s happening: You’re using B instead of V. ● How to fix it: For V, touch your top teeth to your bottom lip and vibrate slightly. Practice: very vs berry, over vs ober. 3. Dropping or simplifying consonants ● Examples: authentic → autentic, childhood → chihood, vulnerability → vulnilability, status → sateous ● What’s happening: Some harder consonant clusters are getting skipped. ● How to fix it: Slow down and break the words into syllables. Say each part clearly: ○ au-then-tic ○ child-hood ○ vul-ner-a-bil-i-ty 4. Vowel sounds ● Examples: been → biin, two → tuu, quote → coat, find → fiy, wear → well ● What’s happening: Vowels are getting distorted, often replaced with similar sounds. ● How to fix it: Listen carefully to the correct vowel and repeat. Drill pairs: bit vs beat, full vs fool, coat vs quote, find vs fine. 5. Word spacing & rhythm ● Examples: missed opportunity → all one word, success → suc sess, share your time → shed ● What’s happening: Words are running together. ● How to fix it: Pause slightly between words.
